Each one brings a unique set of skills and expertise to our organization. 


GEORGE L. BALL

Executive Co-Chairman

George Ball is a Director and Executive Co-Chairman of Tectonic Financial. He has also served as Chairman of Sanders Morris Harris since 1992. He was the primary architect of the firm’s successful acquisition of a majority interest in Edelman Financial Services, Salient Partners and numerous other wealth management firms. Under his leadership, through organic growth and acquisitions, Sanders Morris Harris's assets under management grew from $3 billion to $18 billion, distributing $1.2 billion to the firm's owners.


George began his career at E.F. Hutton & Co., then one of the largest financial services companies in the country, as a stockbroker. He became Regional Vice President, Director of Research and later National Sales Manager before being named President at age 39. He left E.F. Hutton to become Chief Executive Officer of Bache & Co., which had been purchased by Prudential Insurance Co. of America, and served as a member of the Executive Office of Prudential.


George is a former governor of the American Stock Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange, and served on the Executive Committee of the Securities Industries Association.


He has been a director of numerous public/private companies including Waste Management and American Ecology, and served on the boards of a variety of charitable organizations. 


A graduate of Brown University with honors in economics, George served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He appears frequently on financial news programs, as well as a columnist for financial publications. 


BARB BOMERSBACH

Director

Ms. Bomersbach has served as a director of Tectonic Financial since March 2019. Ms. Bomersbach is the Chief Financial Officer of TriState Midstream, a natural gas gathering and processing facility, where she has served in such capacity since 2012. Prior to that time, she was the contract Chief Financial Officer for TriState Midstream and the Chief Financial Officer of Wynn Crosby, an oil and gas company. Ms. Bomersbach is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst, and graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a BBA and MS in Accounting.


DARRELL CAIN

Non-executive Co-Chairman

Mr. Cain is non-executive Co-Chairman of the Company and has served as a director of Tectonic Financial since November 2018, Chairman of Tectonic Holdings since 2015 and a partner at Cain Watters since 1983. Mr. Cain founded Cain Watters in 1983 as an accounting and investment advisory firm specializing in financial planning, working exclusively with members of the dental profession, and served as its President from 1983 until 2008, he is currently a partner of Cain Watters. Mr. Cain previously served on the board of directors of T Bancshares and the Bank from their formation until October 2005. Mr. Cain is a graduate of Baylor University where he received both a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Public Accounting degree. He holds certified public accountant and investment advisor representative designations.


STEPHEN B. CLAPP

Director

Mr. Clapp has served as a director of Tectonic Financial since May 2017. He joined Cain Watters and Associates in 1998 as a Financial Planner, and became a partner of the firm in 2008. In addition to providing full service financial planning to more than 100 clients, Mr. Clapp is the partner in charge of CWA’s IT department. He is a Certified Public Accountant and an Investment Advisor Representative. He started his career at an international accounting firm. During his time there, he worked in the federal tax division, assisting clients with a wide variety of topics, ranging from the preparation of individual tax returns to planning corporate tax strategies. Mr. Clapp received his Bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance from the University of Arkansas, and a Master of Science in taxation from the University of Denver.


PATRICK HOWARD

Director and Chief Operating Officer

Pat Howard currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Tectonic Financial, as well as Chief Executive Officer and Director of T Bank, NA. He joined the bank in 2007 as Director, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and was named President and Chief Executive Officer in 2010. Under his leadership, the bank has become one of the top SBA lenders in the nation, outperformed revenue targets and consistently ranked among the Top 200 Healthiest Banks in the United States in Lending Tree’s annual analysis, once again making the list in 2020. 


As Tectonic's Chief Operating Officer, Pat is responsible for turning strategy into operational and financial success. Though data-driven, Pat recognizes that efficient and high-quality customer service ultimately impact a company’s bottom line. He has made personalized service and innovation an intrinsic part of the firm's strategy and culture.


Prior to T Bank, Pat served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of a $2.2 billion savings bank headquartered in Denver, Colorado. His responsibilities included management of bank operations, retail branch operations, mortgage servicing and loan operations, compliance and business and strategic planning, as well as serving on the board of directors.


Pat started his banking career in 1986 in San Antonio, Texas. He is an honors graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance
.


ERIC LANGFORD

Director

Mr. Langford has been a director of our Company since its inception. Mr. Langford is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Texas A&M University. He has been active in the real estate industry for over 28 years as an investor and developer. Since 1995, he has managed Langford Property Company. He previously served as Senior Vice President for two leading national real estate firms, Opus West Corporation and Koll Development Company. A long-time resident of Dallas, Mr. Langford was the founding President of North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors, which awarded him with the Stemmons Service Award, the highest honor in the Dallas real estate industry.


THOMAS MCDOUGAL, DDS

Director

Dr. McDougal has been a director of our Company since its inception. Dr. McDougal is a practicing dentist. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor University. Since 1988, Dr. McDougal has practiced in Richardson, Texas as the owner of Tom M. McDougal DDS. He also serves on the board of directors of several national dentistry associations.


THOMAS SANDERS

Director

Mr. Sanders has served as a director of Tectonic Financial since May 2017.  He joined Cain Watters and Associates in 2002 as an associate planner to Mike Watters, eventually taking over the primary planning responsibilities for Mr. Watters’ client base. Mr. Sanders became a partner of the firm in 2008, and is also the partner in charge of the tax department. He is a Certified Public Accountant and an Investment Advisor Representative. He holds memberships with of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of CPAs and the Dallas Society of CPAs. Mr. Sanders’ career started at one of the Big Four accounting firms, where he specialized in personal and corporate tax planning, including several international assignments to Saudi Arabia. He received a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and a Master of Science in taxation from Baylor University.


A. HAAG SHERMAN

Director and Chief Executive Officer

Haag Sherman is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tectonic Financial. He serves on the Board of Directors for Tectonic Financial, as well as an executive officer and director of Tectonic Financial’s subsidiaries. He is also a director of CBIZ (NYSE: CBZ), a leading provider of financial, insurance and advisory services.


Haag formed Tectonic with the intent of not only leading the way in financial services, but also shaping the direction of the financial technology landscape. His leadership creates a culture of creativity, openness, responsibility and entrepreneurial spirit that inspires employees to work together and rally behind his vision of being a next-generation financial services company. 


Prior to founding Tectonic, Haag co-founded and served in various executive positions (including Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer) of Salient Partners, a Houston-based investment firm. Under his leadership, the firm's assets grew to $17.5 billion. He developed the vast majority of Salient’s investment products and co-developed patented software that provided scale to the distribution of Salient’s investment products. 


Prior to co-founding Salient, Haag served as an executive officer and partner of The Redstone Companies where he, among other things, managed a private equity portfolio with a concentration in financial services companies. Before that, he practiced corporate law at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP and was an auditor at Price Waterhouse, a public accounting firm. Haag is an attorney and certified public accountant and has served as an adjunct professor of law at The University of Texas School of Law. He previously served as a member of the board of directors of Salient MLP & Energy Infrastructure Fund, PlainsCapital, Hilltop Holdings, Blue Dolphin Energy Company, Miller Energy Resources, Inc. and ZaZa Energy Corp. and currently serves on private company boards that he co-founded and on the board of trustees of Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas. 

 

Haag has commented and written extensively on public policy and financial matters, including authoring articles for Barron’s, Marketwatch and other publications and wrote Shattering Orthodoxies: An Economic and Foreign Policy Blueprint for America (Easton Press, 2008), which reached no. 6 on Amazon’s top Social and Economic Policy Books after publication.


DANIEL WICKER

Director

Mr. Wicker joined Cain Watters and Associates as a financial planner in 1997. When the company developed a partnership structure in 2008, he was appointed Managing Partner by Darrell Cain because he exhibited servant leadership. In addition to serving dozens of long-term clients, he oversees the financial planners and the financial planning process  as  the partner in charge of Operations. Mr. Wicker regularly lectures at the CWA Practice Transition Seminar, dental society meetings and study clubs nationwide. He is a Certified Financial Planner and holds a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) license from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants of which he is also a member. Additionally, he is  an Investment Advisor Representative and a member of the Texas Society of CPAs. Mr. Wicker is an alumnus of Kansas State University, and began his career at a Big Four accounting firm.
